Shotpedia: Narrate the Stories Behind of Photos
Where Images Meet Insight
Behind every photograph lies a decision of light, timing, framing, and intent. At Shotpedia, we believe that truly understanding photography means going beyond surface impressions.
That’s why we offer a dedicated Photo Critique section, where founder Ali Saadat shares in-depth, honest, and constructive analyses of submitted works. With years of experience in conceptual, abstract, and documentary photography, Ali brings a trained eye and an artist’s sensibility to every critique.
This is not about praise for praise’s sake. It’s about growth, refinement, and the pursuit of meaning.

About Founder:
I am Ali Saadat. A photographer, photography instructor, critic and analyst of the art of photography, and a lifelong seeker of art.
In 2002, I began my work in the field of advertising and printing through self-teaching in the job market. Over 22 years of activity in graphic design, advertising marketing, publishing and printing, specialized layout of magazines and books, computer and graphic software education, and research and development in distance learning projects, I turned to the art of photography. My current honor is becoming a permanent member of the National Iranian Photographers Society, which I have recently achieved.
In 2006, I started photography by attending private classes with Mehdi Eghlima, a photographer and a good friend of mine. As I sought something beyond technique and capturing high-quality images in my art, I became a member of the Isfahan Photo Club in 2007. After one year of provisional membership, I became a permanent member and have proudly worked alongside my friends in that organization ever since.
In pursuit of meaning and concept in photography, in 2007, I met Ebrahim Arabbeiki, a university professor and former president of the Isfahan Photo Club and the National Iranian Photographers Society. Through participating in his artistic ideation courses in photography, I opened a gateway to my artistic and philosophical goal in photography.
After many trials and errors, I eventually became acquainted with Honarsaran Academy in 2020. Never fearing to say “I don’t know,” I participated in the photo manipulation course by Aryana Golchin, the photography course by Hasan Torabi, and the photo editing course by Narges Shahabi, which continued for a year.
Since I had professional photography experience in the past and was proficient in Photoshop and Adobe software, after completing the courses, I had the honor of teaching photo manipulation and Adobe Photoshop for photographers at Honarsaran Academy for three years. During this time, I had many students at the academy, and as an active member of that organization, I contributed significantly to its growth by participating in ideation sessions and holding numerous workshops.
I have organized and still organize numerous group and independent workshops in Iran and Isfahan to introduce students to more than just technique and teach them to be thoughtful and concerned. My personal approaches are strongly influenced by my worldview and revolve primarily around concepts such as time and its impact on living beings, particularly humans, as well as social concepts.
Today, as an art enthusiast, I am the owner and founder of the website Shotpedia, which is dedicated to introducing and critiquing artists’ works from philosophical and sociological perspectives. The content on this site reflects my internal and external views on art and the works of artists, which I currently prepare and publish myself.
Additionally, I am one of the co-owners and founders of the site AnyIdealist, which is active in the field of performance art, where I collaborate with my friend Alireza Mortazavi, a renowned santoor player and musician on the world stage.
